The people behind AQS have been working with the sodar technique since 1969 when they started to develop measuring equipment for airports.

We have 30 years of experience developing sodar technology and we’ll continue to develop it for at least 30 more.

Peter Jansen
Chairman of the board


Peter Jansen has worked many years both domestically and internationally within manufacturing companies. Main focus has been marketing and development planning.

Graduated as M. Sc. (ME) and has served mainly either as president or board member within different companies.

Pelle Hurtig
Board member and CEO


Pelle has over 25 years of International sales and marketing experience. The last 20 years of his career have been spent in the renewable energy industry. He came to AQSystem 2005 and before that working for multinational companies with key roles including Marketing, Sales and Technical Support Manager.

His technical background and education as mechanical designer have been very important for the growth of AQSystem for the past years.

Sven-Erik Thor
Board member


Sven-Erik has a broad knowledge on research and development of wind power within Sweden and in the international market.

His long and distinguished career includes; being head of wind RD&D at Vattenfall before his retirement in February 2013. Participating in a number of EU projects on wind energy. Being a member of TpWind Steering Committee and services to the European Commission to evaluate proposals for framework programs.

His experience also includs business relationship with manufacturers and authorities in Germany, Denmark, Holland and China.

Sten-Ove Rodén
Board member

Sten-Ove Rodén has served in several positions like service manager and  quality manager but mainly as project leader for many successful complex industrial projects with larger international customers like Xerox corporation in USA, Richo and Canon in Japan and Océ in the Netherlands.

He joined AQSystem in 2010 for coordinating development projects.

His technical background and education is mechanical engineer.

Malin Hurtig
Board member

.

Malin has worked in the property industry for over 20 years. Is currently working as property manager for the Government Quarters in Stockholm at the National Property Board. Has extensive experience in working with buildings with vital supply systems and high safety requirements. Malin is a civil engineer and studied land surveying at the Royal Institute of Technology.


Mats Hurtig
Founder

Has a long experience with the SODAR technique and developed the first instrument in Europe together with a team at the Swedish Research Institute of National Defence (FOI) in the 1970s.

Started up the company AQSystem in 1989 with the goal to offer instruments based on the SODAR technique for monitoring wind and turbulence mainly for the wind energy market. Mats says “It has been a fantastic and stimulating work together with my colleagues in AQSystem during a long period of time”.

1995

Sodar systems developed and delivered for aviation and metorological applications.

2000

Prototype of AQ500 Wind Finder designed and initial testing started.

2008

Initial success stories from Scandinavian wind energy projects.

2009

Expanding production to meet demand from the Swedish wind industry hype.

2010

Design of CW “Cold Winter” power supply to deliver a robust power source working in Scandinavian winter conditions. Start of export to countries outside Scandinavia.

2011

Client met mast tower comparison and design of AQPower solution to supply power to met masts.

2012

Development of AQSystem test site.

2013

Verification process developed in conjunction with DNV-GL.

2014

Launch of second-generation Model AQ510.

2015

Power solutions developed to meet demand from international export. Independent verifications.

2016

International expansion.

2017

Classification according to IEC 61400-12-1 ED 2.0 completed.

2018

International expansion.

2019

AQ-Online.

2020

Expansion in the Japanese market in collaboration with GPSS Engineering.

2021

DNV-GL technology review of the AQ510 Wind Finder.

2022

Verification against 244m met mast at DTU Risø.

2023

Launch of Eurostar turbulence measurement research project.
